Almudena and Alberto are a young couple who, like many others, came to Equipo Juana Crespo with a diagnosis that \u201ceverything was perfect.\u201d\u00a0Even so, after three years of trying\u2014two naturally and one through the public healthcare system\u2014the positive result still had not come. Although everything seemed to be fine, they decided they did not want to waste any more time\u2014a wise decision that brought them to our clinic at a moment when they still had many reproductive options.<\/span><\/p>\n

Their story began in 2019, when they decided it was time to become parents. After a visit to the gynaecologist in which all the tests came back normal, they started trying to conceive naturally. But as the months passed, Almudena and Alberto began to suspect that something was not right. After eight months, they returned to the gynaecologist to explain their situation and were referred to the assisted reproduction unit. More tests were carried out, for both of them, and once again the diagnosis was that everything was normal. Despite not having a clear explanation for the problem, Almudena underwent four artificial inseminations over the course of a year\u2014all negative.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the inseminations, the protocol was to move on to IVF, but they had to wait several more months. At that point, they decided they did not want to waste any more time, and on the recommendation of some friends, they got in the car and drove to Valencia. Their friends\u2019 advice was clear: \u201cIf you want to get it right, go to Equipo Juana Crespo.\u201d They still remember those words today\u2014words they followed and have never regretted.<\/span><\/p>\n

The couple, who had come with the \u201ceverything is perfect\u201d diagnosis, had their first consultation at our clinic, and Juana knew from the very beginning: there was a uterine problem that needed to be corrected. It was essential to design a strategy to make things work, but as the doctor told them from the very first moment: \u201cThe road is broken, but it can be fixed\u2014and I know how to do it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Almudena and Alberto left that first consultation feeling a bit scared by the diagnosis, but at the same time happy and hopeful, because at last someone had told them the real cause of their problem. And although having a diagnosis frightened them, it also gave them peace of mind.\u00a0That first visit marked a key moment for the couple: \u201cIt was like seeing the light at the end of the tunnel\u2014it gave us so much hope,\u201d says Almudena.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe found the first consultation very thorough. They requested all kinds of tests and, most importantly, they were able to identify what was really happening,\u201d she explains.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

After that visit, they began the procedure so they could start as soon as possible\u2014they did not want to waste any more time. Almudena had a retroverted uterus, which had caused retrograde menstruation and adhesions in the uterine walls. She had to undergo a hysteroscopy to clean the area and prepare it to receive the future embryo.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThroughout the whole process, I felt motivated. I was scared because everything was new, but I felt so supported by the entire team that it did not matter,\u201d Almudena tells us.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The first transfer was negative, but they did not lose heart, and after a change in strategy, the second one resulted in pregnancy. The couple admits that the day of the beta test was undoubtedly the happiest\u2014they could not stop crying. \u201cIt was a moment we will never forget; it was the ending we had been dreaming of for so long,\u201d they say.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, with their little one in their arms, they look back and are certain they regret nothing. They encourage other couples not to be afraid and to take the step: \u201cWe invested in our happiness, and it is the best thing we could have done,\u201d they conclude.<\/span><\/p>\n
